Employee Spotlight: Jackie Willis Roberts – Director of Sales

Employee Spotlight: Jackie Willis Roberts – Director of Sales

When it comes to your wedding day, who better to have on your team than this former Clemson University cheerleader?

Jackie’s intimate knowledge of Patrick Properties Hospitality Group’s historic Charleston venues stems from more than 7 years as part of our events and sales team. As an event manager, Roberts tackled every logistic – from coordinating floor plans, timelines and catering rentals to overseeing flawless meal services and a professional event staff. She also led coordination of our in-house PPHG Signature Service.

Roberts expanded her role at PPHG as senior sales manager, where she served as the first point of contact for our newly engaged couples – expertly guiding them through the initial steps of planning while ensuring a smooth flow of communication and meticulous attention to detail. Today, she serves as the Director of Sales where she utilizes her upbeat personality, leadership skills, team-minded focus and strategic problem solving to oversee the sales team.

One of Jackie’s favorite tasks is creating special custom touches in menu design when it comes to family recipes, like grandma’s chocolate cake or cultural menu items that are special to the couple. She also loves creating tasting menus for intimate dinner parties wanting an elevated dining experience. She says the best thing about working for Patrick Properties Hospitality Group is that every day is never the same and the great work perks of sweet treats always looming in the pastry shop. She also loves the sisterhood that we’ve created within the company.

This January, it was Jackie’s turn to be the blushing bride when she tied the knot with her love, Judd, at the William Aiken House!

NOW, ON TO THE SERIOUS QUESTIONS….

Q: If you were on death row, what would your last meal be?

A: Something definitely cheesy and savory. Big fan of delicious cheeses or a big helping of mac and cheese.

Q: Favorite old school jam:

A: Old school Ace of Base or Mariah Carey. I have all of her albums and know every song by heart. Wore the butterfly clips in middle school… yes, guilty as charged.

Q: What is your favorite guilty pleasure TV show you’re embarrassed to admit you watch:

A: Anything on Bravo. Yes, big fan of Real Housewives for mindless watching. Beverly Hills and New York are my personal favorites. I also love watching Southern Charm, as it’s based here in Charleston. I also grew up with one of the cast mates, Cameron, and it’s fun to see when she talks about growing up and Anderson, SC days.

Q: How do you start and end your day?

A: With a kiss from my husband… gag me, right? But seriously, we are newlyweds! LOL. Also, I usually start my day with a scroll on Instagram, and at night while watching the news before bed, I scroll once more.

Q: Best vacation you’ve been on?

A: Best vacation I’ve been to is a toss-up… Internationally, my favorite trip was to Ireland with my mother and sister a few years ago. We saw the Cliffs of Moher by boat and land, and they were breathtaking!

Best vacation in the States had to be this past December when my husband surprised me for my 30th birthday with a trip to New York City. Everything about that extended weekend was a highlight, but a big check off the bucket list was getting tickets to Saturday Night Live, where we saw the full cast and U2 perform in that small intimate setting. The best!

Currently, I’m excited about traveling to Italy and Greece in May for my honeymoon!

Q: Any favorite line from a movie?

A: Oh, so many. Big fan of the romantic comedies and the classics. I have watched Gone with the Wind probably 100 times and had almost all of the Scarlett O’Hara Barbie dolls as a child. Also, love The Notebook and all Reese Witherspoon movies.

Q: What is on your bucket list?

A: So much… one recently checked off was to see SNL! I would like to visit every continent. Most of my bucket list involves traveling.

Q: What phobias do you have?

Driving up a mountain with no guard rails. My mother bought property on a cliff in Bryson City, NC, where she built a darling little mountain cabin. Still to this day, driving up it with no guard rails terrifies me.

Q: If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be?

A: Taylor Swift

Q: What actor would you choose to be you in a movie about your life?

A: Reese Witherspoon. Bubbly southern powerhouse. Girl power. Love her Draper James line, too.

Q: What would you name your boat if you had one?

A: The Hartwell. It’s the name of the lake I grew up on back in my hometown.

Q: Do you believe in ghosts?

A: Kinda, sorta. More like spirits. A holy one. LOL.

Q: A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?

A: He says, “I’m here for happy hour, and who’s shaking?” (I’m a big fan of craft cocktails every time I get out to explore Charleston restaurants. Always start my happy hour with a cocktail!)

Jackie brings so much joy and creativity to the company, and we are so happy to have this cheerleader on our team!
