We’re swooning for this season’s return of ball gown silhouettes across Patrick Properties’ historic Charleston wedding venues. Cinderella had it right: timeless and impossibly elegant, there’s no better way to add a touch of drama than a fitted bodice and sweeping full skirt. After all, what bride doesn’t want a bit of fairytale romance on her big day?
And while an ornate ball gown dresses up a formal wedding, there’s no rule against this traditional (and, by the way, oh-so-flattering) silhouette for a more relaxed occasion or outdoor soiree.
Our lovely brides prove there’s more than one way to wear this trend well, with our two all-time favorite inspirations.
The Southern Belle: Okay, so maybe you’ve never actually seen Gone With The Wind; but you can just imagine how these flowing gowns steal our breaths against the iconic Lowcountry backdrop of a 1786 estate home and oak-shaded riverfront of Lowndes Grove.
The Classical Beauty: Stately ballrooms, Victorian details and manicured gardens – and a crisp white ball gown descending the staircase at The William Aiken House. Gets us every time.
