A champagne dream on the water…

Alexa + Scott Cervone
Wedding Date: March 9, 2018
Ceremony & Reception: Lowndes Grove

Scott and Alexa worked at the same company and met in 2013. He worked remotely in Chicago, and she worked in HQ in Philadelphia. Alexa ended up moving to Chicago about a year after they met, and they would see each other in group settings with mutual friends. They ended up dating, and the rest is history!

Alexa tells us the story about Scott’s perfect proposal & all the details about their dreamy Lowndes Grove wedding

Scott planned a trip to Hawaii in January 2017 and kept most of it a surprise – all I knew is we were going to Hawaii, and he said he had the rest covered. I knew we had to be ready for a nice dinner one of the first nights we were there. We got ready, and on our way to dinner, we stopped for a “quick helicopter ride”. He arranged for a private tour of the island, which was incredible, and ended up stopping at a waterfall, and that’s where he proposed! We got back on the helicopter and headed back to the resort, where he had a romantic dinner on the beach set up for us. Before dinner, we happened to run into a photographer from Michigan who was looking for a couple to photograph at sunset. We were already dressed up, so it worked out perfectly! We ended up getting engagement photos right on the beach at sunset in Kona. It couldn’t have been a more perfect day!

Living in Chicago, we knew we wanted a spring destination wedding, and Charleston was one of our top picks since it’s one of our favorite cities. We planned a trip to look at a few venues, and Lowndes Grove blew all of the other venues away. I knew from the moment we walked up to the property that it was going to be the venue we chose (being on the water didn’t hurt either!).

We wanted a classic, elegant, and intimate wedding. We were going for a more neutral color scheme – lots of ivory/cream, greenery, and pops of gold. The flowers were done by Ashley at Poppy Custom Floral, and she did an amazing job! They included lots of greenery and white. The linens were textured neutrals (cream) for the most part, plus a sage green linen for the guest book table and draping to play off of all the greenery in the flowers. We also had touches of gold with gold-rimmed plates and flatware.

My favorite element of our wedding design was the gold “sip & be seated” structure. I love champagne and knew I wanted to incorporate it into our special day. We decided to do plastic escort cards that were placed in champagne glasses, so our guests got to find their name, pick up their glass, and sip on their way to the reception to find their seat!

We wanted the band to really “WOW” the guests. SoulFish was awesome and super interactive with the crowd – they even let our 1.5-year-old ring bearer go on stage and play the drums! Our guests still tell us how awesome the band was and how much fun they had!

Our favorite part of the day was our first look, being able to spend some time together in private. It was nice to have a moment alone and relieve some of the nerves before the ceremony.

Thank you, Alexa + Scott, for sharing your fairytale wedding with us!
