Employee Spotlight: Carly Terrier – Event Manager

Name: Carly Terrier

Role: Event Manager

Education: East Carolina University — Go Pirates!

Favorite event detail that you’ve come up with lately: I am all about the “pretty” so getting to create really eye-catching/appealing items are my jam. Lately it has been all about the cocktails for me.  I’ve taken a classic cocktail (Old Fashioned) and put a whole orange wheel down the side of the glass to give it a big pop of color. I’ve had Moscow Mules that the couple bought a branding stick with their Monogram on it that we used for the limes.  Most recently, I’ve had fresh watermelon margaritas, grapefruit margaritas (I see a pattern…haha)—but I love that you can take a simple cocktail—nothing imported/exotic/crazy, and still make it a show stopper with the presentation.

Favorite part of working for PPHG: THE FOOD…duh 😉 – Getting to create custom menus that speak to the couple and their families/heritage is so much fun for me.  I love to incorporate items that are meaningful to the couples—you love tacos? Let’s find a place for them! The groom is all about some pizza?? Let’s pass it late-night! Does the bride only drink spicy margaritas? Let’s pass them as guests enter cocktail hour! Truthfully I really love watching an event that I have been working on for months come through fruition. Getting to know the couples, their families, and working so closely with them for months/a year—they become more like friends and making their day that much more special just really makes me happy.

Favorite “Charleston” activity: Exploring the “off the beaten path” restaurants—like Chico Feo on Folly Beach—one of my favorite gems with some killer food!

Give a piece of advice for couples planning their wedding: Enjoy the day! I hear all the time from couples after the fact that the day flies by and is over in a blink of an eye. So take the time to really step back and take in the little moments.
