If there is any occasion Charleston loves more than a wedding, it’s brunch! Which is why we’re smitten with this sweet couple who decided to treat their guests to both when they celebrated their big day with an afternoon brunch soiree at The William Aiken House.
Beautiful weather and Charleston’s lush summertime greenery were a perfect backdrop for Suedi and Simon’s vision of a quintessential garden party – complete with lawn games, breezy outdoor lounges and Southern brunch fare. The historic Downtown Charleston estate’s colorful interiors coupled with the bride’s soft color palette and crisp white florals lent a sunny welcome as guests mingled between elegant parlors, ballrooms and sunlit piazzas.
Thinking about a wedding brunch? Here are our favorite details to save for inspiration!
Suedi and Simon opted for a traditional church ceremony, so to kick off their brunch wedding reception, guests were greeted with the couple’s signature bourbon-peach lemonade cocktail upon arrival. Once inside the William Aiken House, mimosas and a Bloody Mary bar kept up the lively atmosphere.
What’s a Southern brunch menu without biscuits? Suedi & Simon’s buttermilk biscuit bar featured a trio with country ham, gouda cheese and Dijon; whipped honey butter & jam; and Carolina mustard barbeque & cole slaw. Crispy fried chicken & waffles, mini tomato pies and shrimp & cheddar cheese grits with chorizo gravy disappeared as quickly as the couple’s wedding cake, alternating tiers of strawberry and lemon cake.
Warm, personal touches made guests feel right at home at this elegant, yet easy-breezy affair. A string jazz trio was the soundtrack to corn hole and lawn games, and a bubble-filled exit rounded out this sweet wedding day celebration.
