Employee Spotlight: Erin Steffen – Sales Manager

It’s easy to see why Erin Steffen dives into each Patrick Properties event with a winning spirit and confident focus.

The former College of Charleston varsity swimmer joined the PPHG team in May 2015, propelled by her early hospitality career and passion for exceptional service. Erin’s sharp drive earned her a promotion within a year at PPHG to the role of Event Manager and eventually she progressed into the Senior Event Manager role. She moved into her current position as a Sales Manager in 2019.

A Delaware native, Erin first joined Charleston’s talent pool as part-time banquet staff upon the suggestion of a college friend. The fast pace, intricacies, and discipline of the industry were a natural fit. Erin gained experience in restaurant service and special events during the remainder of her education, opting to forego a career in exercise science. Upon graduation, she accepted the role of Event Manager with one of Charleston’s premier caterers.

Erin refined her management skills over the course of two years in the position, expanding her culinary expertise while immersed in the local hospitality community. Inspired by the industry leadership of Patrick Properties Hospitality Group and its caliber of events, Erin pursued a role among the professional team as the next step of her career – and has since hit her stride while ensuring every element of our clients’ big day surpasses expectation. Erin recently got engaged to her fiance, Dan Elliot (PPHG Executive Sous Chef!), in January and will become a Lowndes Grove bride herself next February!

My college friends have to play Blink 182 – All The Small Things every time we get together for a reunion or any wedding that we attend. It’s basically our group’s theme song.

Q: How do you start and end your day?

A: Loving on my dogs.

Q: Best vacation you’ve been on?

A: I had an amazing time at Universal Studios Orlando a few years ago. Everything about the trip was perfect. I enjoy visiting my parents in Sedona, Arizona and I also recently went on a  seven-night cruise after getting engaged and we had the best time with some close friends! Off-roading ATVs in Cozumel, Mexico was a blast!

Q: What is on your bucket list?

A: I have always wanted to skydive – I am sure I will get to it at some point! I would also like to live on a boat at some point in this life.

A: My fiance, Dan. ?

Q: What actor would you choose to be you in a movie about your life?

Q: Is a hot dog a sandwich, and why?

A: I would say no. It’s a category all on its own to be enjoyed at a baseball game with a cold beer.

Q: What is your favorite part of working for PPHG?

A: It’s hard to pick just one reason. The obvious answer is that I get to work at amazing historic private properties every day. If that wasn’t cool enough, I work alongside an incredibly talented team of coworkers. Another favorite part of working at PPHG is that after 4 years as an Event Manager and working countless events, I think it is amazing that each and every event is different which keeps things fun and interesting. I am excited to continue growing at PPHG in the Sales Department and see what lies ahead!
